Marc Christmas

Marc Christmas studied photography at Bournemouth and Art and Design at Poole. Marc lives on the South Coast and currently lectures in photography at Higher Education level. He continues to explore a number of themes in his work, shooting medium format digital as well as large format film, producing a large output of personal work in order to satisfy his passion for image making. Set in the garden and public areas, these images explore the psychological relationships between the subjects and the spaces they occupy. These constructed and fictitious scenes make reference to appropriated objects of labour and discarded materials. Their function is to create 'new stories' past and future for these spaces. Some, but not all, of the resulting work questions ideas about the limitations of photography and specifically how the line between photography and other art forms, in particular sculpture, is being blurred in contemporary photographic practice.
